Portfolio Cover Letter

My final portfolio consists of two papers. My first paper is paper number four, I believe this paper has many strengths. It offers a new twist to an idea that has been discussed for ages, and has strong research backing up my argument. My other paper is a rewrite of my first paper written for this class. I thought the original final was a strong piece, but I went back and made some minor corrects making the paper flow better.  I believe this work is sufficient enough for my grade to be raised because I followed the prompt and  feel that I made a solid argument and was successful in both papers by supporting them with extensive research and concise writing.
I really enjoyed this course because it was a great way to learn how to write proper college papers. I liked the setup of the class and enjoyed our lectures. I wish we would have been able to write a research paper that applied to my personal discourse community for my major so I could've gotten practice. I hope to see you around and I really appreciate all the work you did to help me be a better writer.

Cover Letter Final Paper 4

In this paper I was trying to argue that writers block isn't only mental, but is also correlated with emotions. The main claim in my paper is that the all the aspects of the brain is intertwined making writers block a more complicated topic than originally assumed. The way I supported my argument was with extensive research ranging from views on writing, creativity, brain chemistry, and the different parts of the brain. Some of the counter-arguments I tried to address in my paper was that writer's cannot just be strictly related to emotions. The parts of my paper that are working well are the introduction and the body. If given more time I would expand more on the brain chemistry and different sections of the brain. I hope the reader enjoys this article because I believe it offers new insight into writer's block even though the subjects has been discussed for years.

Cover letter

The purpose of this paper is to give people who suffer from writers block a sense of hope. In the paper I try and answer the questions how do people get writer's block and how to overcome writers block. I used many different sources to help strengthen my paper. I found that scientific sources regarding neurological processes were most helpful. Honestly I am not pleased with how the paper is written so far. With more time I will be able to expand further and complete the  paper. In short the paper is not fully complete but I do think the reader can get what points I am trying to make.

In the article "Reading and Writing without Authority", Ann Penrose and Cheryl Geisler argue that differences in authority all occur within an academic sphere. They go on by saying that lack of authority may lead to the downfall of a students education.
QD.
3. Some of the differences I noticed between the two was that Janet wasn't very creative in her process she stuck to a guided plan. However, Roger used creativity to his advantage and really thought outside the box.
4. Unfortunately Janet did not have any trust in herself which made for a writing that was weak and underdeveloped. In order to change Janet needs to find confidence when trying to attack the blank page and truly let her creativity flow across the page.
5. I am definitely more like Roger because when writing I feel the freedom to express what I feel. I like writing differently than everyone else because it gives the reader a sense of who I am and how I differ from other writers.
MM
This reading will help me in the future when it comes to writing research papers because I now have the knowledge to make concise arguments and now how to support them with my writing.
Summary
I found this reading to be beneficial in many ways and I will definitely be able to use this knowledge when writing my fourth paper for english 151.

Summary
n the article "Identity, Authority, and Learning to write in New Workplaces" Elizabeth Wardle argues that change is a key ingredient to have success at writing. She explains that a persons identity can be a major factor in how one may develop in a new discourse community.
QD.
3. The reason for the clash between Alan and his new discourse community was probably due to the fact that he wasn't willing to fully invest himself in the group and truly fit in with the others.
4. Absolutely, form the very beginning people learn how to speak, think, behave, and react to situations very uniquely, and when entering a new discourse community its hard to sculpt our behavior that has been apart of your life for so long to fit something else.
5.  I agree with Wardle because belonging to a new group is a joint effort and I don't think Alan was all that committed to changing his ways in order to fit in with his new workplace community.
6. Due to that fact that Alan was picked at random I don't think he can be considered a tool.
7. The only time I can remember someone losing authority was during high school and I had a student teacher and was very unexperienced and wasn't quick to adapt to a teaching position.
AEI
A person who has authority is someone with experience and confidence. These people are very capable in teaching and explaining what is the correct way to do thing is when it come to writing.
Response
I found this article to be a little dry so I lost interest in it pretty quick. However, I did understand the message Wardle was trying to make and I do agree with it.
