In the article "Shitty First Drafts", Anne Lamott explains that if a writer begins with a shitty first draft then they are most likely to have a good second draft and an outstanding third draft. She also mentions that her writing used to really struggle, but the key to her success was discovering the importance of a shitty first draft.

In his paper "To See Your Story Clearly, Start by Pulling the Wool over Your Own Eyes", Kent Haruf explains how writing is unique to every writer. He shows that some pervious writers use writing processes that are completely insane and not to mention that his is no better. Using These Essays
These sources have all been beneficial because they all offer their own unique piece of advice. Something that I have noticed about learning about the writing process is that no one really uses the same thing because everyone writes differently. I think these authors grapple with the idea of construct because they now that true good writing comes form being confident and making your ideas be the important aspect of the paper not the format. Every writer is faced with distractions, lack of confidence, frustration and writers block but it is these things that make good writers. I believe Tony would have benefited from reading these because I benefited form it because they all gave me different ideas on how I can improve my personal writing process.
MM
1. One thing I found useful was the shitty first draft, because when I realized that my first draft was a bunch of crap I started over. What a mistake I was making and a huge waste of time.
2. Nothing really changed for me, I think becoming a better writer is a long process and I'm not completely dedicated to it because I don't want to be the best writer on the planet I just want to get and A on my assignment.
Response
I found all of these articles helpful to the cause of making me a better writer. For example Lamott gave me great advice and its something that I will always keep in mind. The saying that practice makes perfect definitely applies to writing and for me to become a pretty awesome writer is to learn form people who know what they are doing.

  1. I think that we all need to be dedicated to becoming good writers since we will need to continue writing for the rest of our lives. We will need to write things for our employers, letters, etc. for the rest of our lives so I think it is extremely important that we take this time to hone our writing skills while we have people around us to assist us.

  2. I also thought that the shitty draft article was helpful because your first draft never has to be good. You can always make changes to it later on.

  3. I also thought these articles would help a writer like Tony based on the fact that these articles helped me with my own writing process and how I view the problems I face when I write.
